Sporting fantastic views to the south, we oriented the living spaces and bedrooms toward that aspect. Off the south side of the house above the walkout basement is a generous deck. A 24' wide motorized awning will provide "on demand" shade to the deck. From the driveway, the house is bookended by garages. A large RV garage will be outfitted with a Schweiss Door, a hydraulic bi-fold door that opens out in hangar door fashion.
Energy-wise, the house is framed with a 2x8 wall. Total R-value of the wall is greater than R-40. A solid window package, truss roofs, underslab insulation and a very air-tight shell round out the picture. The house is all-electric and will not have any combustion appliances. A highly efficient heat recovery ventilator (HRV) provides fresh air to the house.
