We have used Brach Design both for substantial rehab and demo/new construction of residences in established City neighborhoods. The modern design we sought had to be dramatic yet within the confines of the existing surroundings. Brach Design provided excellent design ideas. Almost as important, their understanding of construction made the final designs consistent with our budgets. They also were quite helpful in dealing with the myriad of City agencies and departments and interested neighborhood groups.

I've worked with Dave on not one, but two home renovations/remodels. In the first, major work included moving a staircase, reconfiguration/redesign of the entrance & front facade, new kitchen, dining, living & master bedroom, and more. I was the "general contractor" and, fortunately, Dave was our architect.

Dave truly did an amazing job .... His patience and ability to really listen at the start set us out on the right foot. His guidance and insights when making choices was helpful and easy to understand. His designs are gorgeous! Still getting compliments on the stairs, layout, kitchen, and small details! Entertaining often, and love how well the flow of the space works perfectly. Dave brought the house back to life.

In the second home where the budget was more modest, he again took the time at the outset to give the options and insights we needed to make the best changes possible. Now the center of the home is open and full of the light it desperately needed. We can now take on the incremental changes of smaller areas comfortably. Another home transformed.

I would not hesitate to work with Dave again, and to be frank, still dream of having him build a small net-zero home for my family one day. My highest recommendations.

Working with Dave Brach was a fabulous experience.
He was the 3rd architect we worked with in an effort to design our custom home.
He spent an extensive period of time interviewing my husband and myself about what we wanted in home, how do we live, what is important to us, how do we use various spaces in the house: the bathroom, the kitchen, etc. Unlike other architects he truly wanted to help us build a home for us and the way we live. Others had tried to talk of out of things for resale value or a more conventional design, which we were not interested in.

He did an excellent job helping us to stay within our budget, making suggestions at every turn that would make our home more affordable.

He spent a lot of time at the building site analyzing the views & solar gain. His efforts have paid off. Everyone who enters the home asks wow..who was the architect...he "framed" the views..outstanding.

The house functions much better than I could have imagined our 3500 sq ft home at 8500 ft had a total gas & electric Bill of $15 for the month of June. Dave was able to suggest the use of natural light everyone..you truly feel the outdoors in the home, I never turn lights on unless it is dark outside

Dave designed and build a custom wood sink for our powder room. We had gone back & forth on various options for the long narrow space. The sink is the length of the powder room. It is beautiful. It has received many compliments.

Please feel free to contact me at any time if I can answer any questions. I would be happy to be listed as a reference. Dave is OUTSTANDING. I can't believe we were fortunate enough to work with him. My husband got his wish of a SUPER energy efficient home and I got my wish of a fabulously beautiful home.

— ZEVON House Project

Dave Brach designed an incredibly energy efficient and beautiful home for us. He was a pleasure to work with, listened to us at every turn, and knew how to maximize R values!

Rather than solely apply design and artistic qualities to his work, he implements principles of building science to his work to arrive at a sustainable product that allows us to live warmly in the winter and and cooly in the summer with virtually no supplemental heat and no air conditioning. Our utility bills are minuscule.

— ZEVON project New Construction

We hired Dave to design a new construction house for us on a small narrow lot in a historic district. We first interviewed Dave due our interest in having an energy efficient home, but quickly came to realize that he is adept at blending the art of architecture with the science of energy efficiency. Dave has an in-depth knowledge of the passive house design and is constantly researching and coming up with new ideas.

Dave has shown great attention to detail throughout the project. Our contractor has commented on the thoroughness of the construction documents. He worked closely with our contractor in both the planning and construction phase.

We were impressed by Dave's involvement in all aspects of the project. He optimized the placement of our house to take advantage of natural lighting, surrounding views, while maintaining privacy. Dave also considered and respected the surrounding architecture of the historic neighborhood and worked closely with the historic landmark commission to obtain approval of the plans.

We found Dave very knowledgable regarding construction costs and available materials. He was able to keep our budget in mind during the creative process. Throughout the project he has been readily available by phone or email to address any issues and has been flexible with meeting times. If we ever build again, we would use Dave as our architect.

—Brandon and Darcy Wolsey (Ruby House)

Dave has worked on two projects for us, the first was a new mantel for our 1920's home, and the second was a design for our kitchen that badly needed modeling. Dave was great to work with, he understand our vision and was able to put our needs and wants into reality.

I would have complete confidence in in Dave's designs and his work!
